Cash boost for tumble track fund
 |
| Raising cash: Andover Salto Gymnastics Club members wash cars to raise money for a tumble track from Russia. |
THE Friends of Andover Gym Club held a very successful car wash on Saturday raising £350 towards a brand new tumbling track.
The event was held at the Salto Centre off Charlton Road in Andover where there was a brisk turnover of cars washed in ideal conditions.
Mr Simon Arter, chairman of the Friends of Andover Gym Club, said the new track was one of only three coming into the UK from Russia.
"It allows gymnasts to perform far more difficult moves and is seen as the future for competitive tracks," he said.
There is still a long way to go, however, because the track costs £15,000.
But the club is looking for grant funding and has a series of more fundraising events planned.
