Curves waives service fees in support of charity

A BASINGSTOKE fitness class has pledged to waive service fees this month in support of local charity The Pink Place.

Instead of paying for the classes at Brighton Hill Parade, women have been able to make a suggested donation of £30 to the Basingstoke charity, which supports people who have, or have experienced, breast cancer.

Ruth Ralphs, manager of Curves, Basingstoke, said: “Fundraising for breast cancer charities is something which unites the Curves community globally, and we’re delighted to champion The Pink Place, whose goals of supporting and strengthening women matches Curves’ core values extremely well.”

The Basingstoke branch of Curves has been fundraising for breast cancer charities for about three years and has so far collected in excess of £1,000.

The scheme, which coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is being welcomed by The Pink Place. The charity, based in Taylor’s Hair & Beauty Salon, Wote Street, offers pampering, beauty treatments and therapy to women affected by breast cancer.

Kay Alsop, who does admin for the Pink Place, said: “Curves have supported us in the past and we really appreciate all of their help. We are very grateful to them and everyone else who has chosen to support The Pink Place.”
