Counselling on offer at Odiham Cottage Hospital
11:00am Friday 19th October 2012 in News By Chris Gregory
CUT-price sex therapy and counselling will be on offer at a new clinic at Odiham Cottage Hospital.
Relate North and East Hampshire and Borders, which helps people with relationship problems, will hold a counselling session in the Buryfields buildings between 1pm and 4pm every Monday, starting on November 5.
The move was first revealed in The Gazette in September, but the details have now been confirmed.
Services offered will include relationship counselling, sex therapy, family counselling and counselling for young people.
Appointments will cost £15, rather than the usual £47 charged by Relate, because funding from the Odiham Cottage Hospital Charitable Trust, which owns the building, will subsidise the cost. Paul Bright, chief executive of the Relate branch, said he had been looking for a base between the charity’s offices in Basing-stoke and Aldershot.
He said: “Odiham is a good location for that. There is a demand and we do get people from these areas that come to us in Basingstoke.
“I think it’s a really big step forward for us and the cottage hospital. “They want to provide services for the community in all sorts of ways and so do we.”
The charity is the latest to use the building after the NHS ended its contract to provide an in-patient service at the 12-bed hospital last July.
