High Hopes after record label deal

Basingstoke band High Hopes
A BAND with members from Basingstoke has been signed by a record label.
High Hopes is made up of Brian Turner, Krishan Pujara, brothers Nathan and Daryl Pryor and Shaun Flanagan.
The five-piece metal-core band first got together in 2011, but only found a lead singer earlier this year.
After signing with This is Core Records, the friends released their self-titled debut album and single Eyes Behold, with an accompanying music video which is being streamed on BlankTV.
Lead singer Brian, 23, said of the album: “It’s about love and hate, two things that until now I have found near impossible to tell apart.
“Every lyric has given me strength to rise above and become a better person.”
Krishan, 20, a former Queen Mary’s College student, who is now studying audio engineering at Oxford, said it is tough finding time in the studio with the band in between his studies.
But the guitarist has been trying to combine the two, by recording High Hopes for a university project.
He said: “It’s quite busy for me at the moment.”
Speaking of signing to the record label, Krishnan added: “It means that we have a better opportunity to play around Europe and have a better experience.”
Describing the group’s music, he said: “It’s a bit heavy for some people but we are influenced by lots of bands.”
The next step for High Hopes is to record a full length album at the end of the year. But before then they have various gigs lined up, including one at Bang Bar in Basingstoke on September 30.
Krishan said: “We have got a tour in November in the UK. I would love to do this full time but we have to see how it goes. I have got the career as a back-up.”
