Agreement reached over private party near Overton

Organisers of a party for up to 250 people agreed to reduce the hours in which live music was played to satisfy the borough council’s concerns.
Last week The Gazette reported that a temporary event notice (TEN) had been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to hold the private party at a detached address in the South Litchfield area until 4am on two nights over the bank holiday weekend.
Environmental health officers raised “serious concerns” about the noise nuisance to neighbours from amplified music.
A hearing was due to take place last Friday at which councillors could have banned the party from going ahead.
But an agreement was reached between officers and the applicant beforehand.
Linda Cannon, licensing manager, said: “An amendment was made to the TEN which satisfied concerns of the environmental health team.”
She said it was agreed the hours of live music would be restricted and noise levels for music after midnight limited.
