Thousands visit CarFest South

Chris Evans arriving at CarFest in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
THOUSANDS of people flocked to the first ever CarFest South at the weekend.
Held to raise money for BBC Children in Need, the event was the idea of Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, who told The Gazette he was “overjoyed” with how it turned out.
Despite heavy showers on the Saturday, day visitors and campers staying for the whole weekend enjoyed music, cars, food and arena and aerial displays throughout the two days.
The family festival, held at Laverstoke Park Farm near Overton, showcased cars in a hill climb including Chris’ own ‘Magnificent Seven’ Ferraris.
Bands performing included The Feeling, Texas and Razorlight, who headlined the stage on Sunday evening.
Jody Scheckter, who owns the farm where CarFest was held, said: “It’s great to see the children playing and dancing and having fun here.”
However, not everyone was happy with the charity festival. Neighbours living near the site complained of traffic congestion and noise, and told The Gazette that living next door to CarFest was like being “under siege.”
For the full story see this Thursday’s Gazette, which will also include a full report and pictures on the festival.

I do not know but all I can say is they all need to keep their heads down because as a frequenter of many and festival and open aired event; carfest was the best organized and most enjoyed event this poster has been to in a while
Given the negative reports in some of the Nationals and the unhappy neighbours it is strange that nobody has posted a negative comment here yet.
I thought it was a fantastic event.
And as for disruption as a Overton resident the reality is that sheep fair that and five mile race cause much much more than Carfest
