PARENTS danced the night away in some style at a fundraising event for Hartley Wintney’s two schools and playgroup.

More than 200 people attended the Friends of Hartley Wintney Schools’ annual charity party, held on the village’s Cricket Green last Thursday.

Guests started the evening with a champagne reception, accompanied by music from a string quartet.

That was followed by a hog roast dinner and dancing to covers played by RP, a new band made up of former pupils from Robert May’s School, in Odiham.

Organisers hope the evening will have raised more than £2,000, which will be split equally between Greenfields Junior School , Oakwood Infant School and the Oakwood Playgroup. Oakwood Infant School, in Glebe Lane, will use the money for an overhaul of their IT equipment.

Natalie Carey, one of the organisers, told The Gazette : “It was brilliant. The band was really good and they played us through to midnight, and everyone had a great time.”

She thanked the events sponsors, which included Barratt Homes and the Four Seasons Hotel, in Dogmersfield.
