Free Olympic-themed exhibition at Hampshire Records Office
8:56am Tuesday 7th August 2012 in News By Emily Roberts, Chief Reporter
A FREE exhibition about the Olympic Games is being held at Hampshire Records Office until September 1.
It showcases Olympians and Paralympians with a link to the county, including 400-metre runner Iwan Thomas, of Southampton, judo medallist Kate Howey, from Andover, and swimmer Rosalinda Hardiman, from Portsmouth, as well as those from the more distant past.
Information about venues in Hampshire used for the 1908 and 1948 Games are also included in the exhibition, along with the Olympic torch route, which passed through Basingstoke.
On August 30, there will be a chance to see a 1948 and a 2012 Olympic torch at a free lunchtime lecture between 1.15pm and 1.45pm, with Dr Martin Polley, from Southampton University.
The record office is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, (7pm on Thursdays) and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm. It will be closed on August 27.
