A FOOTBALL competition and cheerleading display were among the delights as two Chineham schools staged their annual summer fete.

Four Lanes Infant and Junior Schools, in Hanmore Road Chineham, opted for an Olympics theme for the annual get-together to mark this month’s historic sporting extravaganza.

Hundreds of pupils and their families came along to support last Saturday’s event, with all the money raised going towards new equipment and facilities.

Basingstoke Wolverines cheerleading squad provided entertainment throughout the day, while there was also a five-a-side football competition for pupils.

Nicky Hill, chairperson of the Friends of Four Lanes Schools, said: “This event has been six months in the planning, and we certainly got the weather we ordered. Obviously, it is a big summer of sport so to get the children to take part in outdoor games is a really nice idea. This is by far our biggest annual event.”

Mrs Hill said she hopes the event will raise in excess of £6,000. Cash was raised through a raffle, with a top prize of two tickets to see War Horse, which was donated by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.
