A WOMAN was taken to hospital with a minor injury after a four-car crash in Basingstoke.

The incident occurred at around 8.55am this morning on the eastbound carriageway of Churchill Way, opposite the entrance to the bus station.

PC Nick Beech, of Hampshire Constabulary, said: “We were called because of a large congestion of traffic. The first car braked and then it went boom, boom, boom.”

A female driver was taken to Basingstoke hospital complaining of neck pain. There were no other injuries. A fire crew was called to help free the woman from her car but was not needed.

Officers closed part of one lane of the carriageway while they dealt with the incident.
