LAGERS from around the world were enjoyed by hundreds of visitors to Hatch Warren Lager Festival.
Beverages from as far afield as Namibia, Greece and the Netherlands were among the lagers on offer at the festival, which was held in Hatch Warren Community Centre, in Basingstoke, last Friday and Saturday.
Around 200 people attended the event, which has now been held annually for the last five years.
Entertainment was provided by singer Gary Myles on Friday and band Revival the following evening.
Organiser Mark Every, vice-chairman of Hatch Warren Community Association, said the reaction from visitors was fantastic.
He said: “For the last four weeks, I’ve been shopping here, there and everywhere, trying to source and buy different lagers.It’s all worthwhile when you see everyone smiling and having fun.”
There were 37 lagers to choose from at the festival, held at the centre, in Longcross Lane.
Mark said: “There was one gentleman who tried every one and drank 37 bottles of beer. They ranged from between 330ml and 660ml, so it was quite impressive.
“I was keeping a close eye on everyone to make sure no one got too drunk, and the gentleman was absolutely fine. It was amazing.”
A team of around 20 volunteers helped out at the association event.
Mark said; “Without our volunteers, these events just wouldn’t happen. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out.”
Tickets for the event cost between £6 and £8 and the beer was priced at between £1.50 and £4 per bottle.
All money raised through the event will go back into the Hatch Warren Community Association funds.
