Motorcyclist killed in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a crash on the A303 last night. The 35 year-old man, from Basingstoke, was pronounced dead at the scene follwing the single vehicle collision.
The crash, which involved a grey Suzuki GSX motorcycle, happened on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 at Micheldever near Winchester close to the M3 junction, shortly after 8.20pm yesterday evening.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident. Last night both the A303 eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed between Micheldever and Popham until 2.30am, while officers examined the scene and cleared debris from the road.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash, or who saw a group of motorcyclists on the A303 prior to it, to come forward.
Witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Lyndon Barrett at Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Coalfield.
