Poppet needs a loving home

Poppet needs a loving home Poppet needs a loving home

POPPET is a young female brown guinea pig who would love to find a new home – and homes for her offspring, too.

She is one of many unwanted guinea pigs who were collected by local animal charity STARescue in mid November.

Her size was assessed at five weeks old and what a surprise it was to find overnight on January 6, six weeks later, that she had produced two young.

The gestation period of guinea pigs is 64 days so, even though Poppet was so tiny when she was found, she was in fact three weeks pregnant at the time!

Poppet and her babies are now looking for new homes and the rescue charity has many other guinea pigs waiting for new homes, too.

Full dietary and care advice will be given upon adoption.

If you can offer Poppet or one of her babies a new start, contact STARescue on 01256 330532 and leave your name and telephone number, speaking clearly and repeating the number. Alternatively, email shirley.king860@ntlworld.com with the same information.

STARescue currently has a very large number of cats, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits and dogs of all ages in urgent need of new homes due to the ever-increasing amount of people abandoning animals.

Further information on some of these potential pets, and every aspect of the charity’s work, is available online at starescue.info.
