Car attacked near Bang Bar, Basingstoke

POLICE have issued an appeal about a violent incident that happened in Basingstoke, the weekend before last.

Shortly before 4am on January 21, two men in their early 20s, were in a car leaving The Bang Bar in Basing View after a night out.

They were then attacked by a group of unknown people who smashed a window in the car. Both men were punched and the driver was hit in the face with a bottle. He required stitches for his injuries.

One of the offenders is described as mixed race, in his mid-20s, about 6ft 2ins tall and of average build. He had short black hair, facial stubble and a local accent. He was wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans.

Another offender is described as white, about 5ft 11ins tall, of an average build and had a strong Liverpool accent. He was wearing light blue jeans, a stripey white t-shirt with a black bodywarmer over the top.

PC Darrin Carey of Basingstoke police said: “This incident happened around the time that many people were leaving The Bang Bar, so there would have been lots of people around at the time.

“I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident or who saw it happen.”
