THEY may have left The X Factor, but the good news for local fans of boy band The Risk is they are coming to a Basingstoke bar.

The Risk – Derry Mensah, Andrew Merry, Charlie Healy and Ashford Campbell – were voted off the show on November 6 after failing to impress viewers with their version of Shalamar’s A Night to Remember.

Finishing bottom of the public vote on a double elimination week, The Risk were immediately eliminated from the competition, without even having the chance to sing for survival.

The group had a rollercoaster time on the popular ITV programme after one member quit during the live shows and was replaced by Ashford – a former member of Nu Vibe, who were voted off the show just a few weeks earlier.

Despite their demise from The X Factor, The Risk are obviously keen to keep hold of their fans and stick together, and they are due to perform at Pure Lounge Bar, in Wote Street, on December 3. The band will also do a meet-and-greet with fans upstairs in Pure’s new VIP room.

Ernie Phelps, a partner at Pure, said: “We thought they would be a good act that everyone is aware of. Everyone was surprised they were voted out.

“They will be doing a 20-minute set and then a meet-and-greet after, when they will have photos taken with people.”

The new VIP room at the town centre venue will open on Friday, November 25.
