Sir.–I am writing to give my support for the academy status bid by Everest Community College.
People hate change. You cannot build a future on what we did yesterday. We can only build a future on what we do today.
Having lived in Popley since it was built, I have seen many changes – the only problem, in my view, was bad parenting.
The old John Hunt school had trouble controlling its pupils.
Since they have moved to the new school, standards have risen and Julie Rose and the teachers should be congratulated for all their hard work. We should therefore give the academy proposal full support. I believe last year’s GCSE results were a one-off.
There is time for change – so support academy status for a better future.
Once again, thanks for all the hard work put in by Julie Rose and the teachers.
–F Rands, Popley, Basingstoke.
