TWO school children fled from a stranger who approached them in the street and spoke to them.

The 11-year-old girl and here six-year-old brother were walking along Tasmania Close in Popley, Basingstoke on March 13 at around 5.50pm when the man came up to them at the junction with Montserrat Place.

He spoke to them and reached out his arm before the girl grabbed her brother and they ran home.

Police have released an e-fit of the man who is described as Asian, aged between 18 and 28, 5ft 8in tall with short black hair and stubble, and wearing a black jacket with black trousers.

Detective Constable Pete Hanson, of Basingstoke CID said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the image and would ask them to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are also still appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed this incident to contact us.

“We would remind parents to encourage their children not to talk to strangers and contact us if there are any suspicious incidents.”
