A CEREMONIAL knife was stolen during a raid on a Basingstoke house.

Officers believe burglars kicked down the front door of a house in George Street, near the town centre, between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday, March 10.

Once inside, they stole electronic equipment, computer games and a Nepalese ceremonial knife.

PC Ewan Gardner, of the Basingstoke Priority Crime Unit, said: “This was a brazen burglary during daylight hours in a busy area. The offenders have caused significant damage to the front door so someone must have seen something.

“The knife that was stolen is also very distinctive; it has a dark wooden handle with brass wrapped around and a 30cm curved engraved blade.

“I would be interested to speak to anyone who has seen this knife, been offered it or seen it for sale.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Gardner at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
