BUSINESSES in the borough are being given the chance to save money by reducing their carbon footprint.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is offering free carbon management training sessions for businesses with fewer than 250 employees.
The half-day training session will take place at Chute House in Church Street on Wednesday, November 25. The session, which will be run by Carbon Footprint, will include: - Carbon management training provided by award-winning local consultants - Networking opportunities - Presentation from Business Link on how to insure and prepare your business for extreme weather events.
Further sessions are planned for 2010 in Kingsclere and other locations in the borough. Additionally, a North Hampshire Sustainable Business Network is being established through the European funded EcoAdvantage project.
Cllr Elaine Still, Cabinet member for the environment and climate change, said: “Reducing the energy used by businesses in the borough will have a significant impact both on the energy bills they pay and the borough’s carbon footprint.
“These free sessions are aimed at small to medium-size businesses – of which the borough has over 5,000. The sessions are an opportunity for them to learn how they can become more energy efficient and contribute to the climate change effort in Basingstoke and Deane.
“We all have a responsibility to reduce our energy consumption and this training will show businesses how.”
