A MOTHER from Basingstoke has been ordered by her housing association to get rid of her two dogs after claims they were harassing and intimidating people.

Emma Davis, of St Lukes Close, South Ham, received a letter from Kingfisher HVHS Housing demanding that she gets rid of her two dogs, Chelsea and Blade.

The single mother has been told in the association’s letter that her dogs have caused “nuisance, harassment and intimidation on numerous occasions” and that if she does not remove the dogs from her home in two weeks, legal action will be taken.

The court action will involve either repossession of the property or an injunction prohibiting dogs from the house.

Miss Davis, aged 28, said: “I just can’t believe it – the letter arrived out of the blue. The dogs are really sweet and wouldn’t hurt a fly. I’ve had them for years and have never had a problem.

“My five-year-old son Mark, who has autism, would be absolutely devastated if we lost the dogs.

“I started a petition and about 30 people from the neighbourhood have signed it calling for the dogs to stay.

“There’s no way I’ll get rid of Chelsea and Blade – I will take this to court.”

Chelsea is a one-year-old bull mastiff-cross and Blade is a four-year-old Spanish mastiff crossed with a rottweiler.

A Kingfisher HVHS spokesperson said: “We are unable to comment on this particular case as it is the subject of an ongoing investigation.

“However, we would stipulate that any resident wishing to keep a pet such as a dog is required to seek written permission from us first.

“Permission is subject to compliance with the tenancy agreement and if this is breached, permission would be withdrawn.”
