A YOUNG man indecently assaulted a woman on a Basingstoke footpath while his companions watched.

At 7.20am on Friday, July 3, a 40-year-old woman was walking along a footpath towards Gershwin Road, Brighton Hill, when three men approached her.

One of the men indecently assaulted her, then pushed her to the floor and indecently exposed himself.

The men then ran off towards the green at the rear of Bernstein Road.

The first man is described as white, in his early 20s, with cropped, blond hair. All three men wore jeans, trainers and hooded tops.

Detective Constable Rebecca Martinez, of Basingstoke CID, said: "This was a completely unprovoked incident that left the victim extremely shaken up, although fortunately she did not receive any serious injuries."
