A HELICOPTER turned heads in Whitchurch as it landed at the local primary school.
But pupils at Whitchurch C of E Primary School were expecting the landing, and spelled out the town’s name on the playing field for it to take a photograph.
The Heliphotos helicopter took aerial shots of all the children with each of the ten classes forming one of the letters of the town.
Once it landed at the school, in Daniel Road, a picture session followed using the 40-foot long helicopter as a backdrop for each class photograph.
School secretary Janice Boxall said the event had been very exciting. Mrs Boxall said: “The pupils all sat on the field waiting for the helicopter and no-one was worried or scared by it.
“All ten classes were out there and they formed a letter each so it formed Whitchurch, and the pilot said it looked brilliant.
“Once the helicopter landed the pilot invited everyone over to listen to a talk about the helicopter.
“They were here from about 1.15pm until 3.30pm so the children had a great afternoon.”
