Antiques snatched in house raids

BURGLARS raided two homes in the same street to steal antiques worth more than £200,000.

Between 6pm on Friday, June 19 and 9am on Saturday, June 20, burglars smashed a window to gain entry to a house in Thackham’s Lane, Hartley Wintney.

They stole antiques such as a clock, candlesticks and a silver plated ornamental stag. The value of the stolen antiques is not yet known.

The second home was targeted between 11pm on Saturday, June 27 and 6am on Sunday, June 28.

This time burglars escaped with around £200,000 worth of antiques including a complete works of Shakespeare, an Indian silver box and a tooled leather and china inlay medallion cover.

Detectives have warned householders to be vigilant.
