THE man responsible for overseeing the appointment of top cops in Hampshire will retire next month.
Jeff Pattison, chief executive of the Hampshire Police Authority, will in March step down from the top role he has held since December 2007, when he was promoted from his position of legal advisor.
The 58-year-old has helped Hampshire Constabulary purchase the site for its new headquarters in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh.
He also oversaw the appointment process for the force’s current chief constable Alex Marshall.
Mr Pattison said: “It has been a privilege to serve as chief executive and legal advisor to this authority.
“I have always been impressed by the commitment and dedication of all members and officers of the authority to do their absolute best for the community of Hampshire.”
The authority will advertise for his replacement next month.
