Dial the correct number this Hallowe'en

RESIDENTS concerned about anti-social behaviour this Hallowe'en are being reminded to call 101 rather than 999.

The police are urging people disturbed by flouring, egging or youth nuisance to dial 101, Hampshire's single non-emergency number, to report such behaviour and not to call 999 unless someone is injured or life is in danger.

All 101 call takers have direct access to the police control room and can arrange for an officer to be sent if possible.

Extra police officers will be out patrolling the streets on Friday night, supported by Special Constables.

Local Safer Neighbourhoods teams will focus on trouble hot spots and take action against those behaving in an anti-social manner.

People who do not want to be disturbed trick-or-treaters are encouraged to display a "no trick-or-treat" poster at their front door.
