THERE were 75 different arson attacks on Hampshire County Council’s 7,000 buildings during the period 2007/08.

This includes two fires which cost more than £75,000 to fix.

Council officers want the county to maintain a partnership with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the problem, which has cost an annual average of £2.5million over the past four years.

Vandalism cost the council £1.1m on average annually to deal with over the same period.
