Not In My Neighbourhood events

POLICE officers in Hampshire will be out in force this week for a series of events to promote safer neighbourhoods as part of a national campaign.

From school visits to beat surgeries, communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight can get involved with their local Safer Neighbourhoods teams for "Not In My Neighbourhood Week", running from today until October 19.

Events occurring in and around Basingstoke include:

Monday, October 13 Mobile police offices in Tadley (9am-12pm) and Baughurst (2pm-4pm).

Pc Mark Smith visiting Over-60s Club, in Sherborne St John.

Bike marking at RAF Odiham (11.30am-1.30pm) and officers at Odiham community centre (3pm and 4pm).

Tuesday, October 14 Mobile police offices in Tadley (9am-12pm) and Kingsclere (2pm-4pm).

In Whitchurch, joint patrols with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council street cleaning team and dog warden to tackle dog fouling, and PCSO Helen Rutherford, for Whitchurch and St Mary Bourne, is visiting Testbourne School to launch a youth project.

Officers at a market stall in Odiham (10am-12pm) and Pc Langridge will be holding a talk and information session about drugs with Odiham Rafters youth club.

Wednesday, October 15 Pc Mark Pullman spending day with pupils at The Hurst Community College, in Baughurst.

In Overton, community focus morning at St Mary's Hall and mobile police office (2pm-4pm).

Mobile office in Headley (10am-12pm).

In Whitchurch a "Join Your Neighbourhood Watch" evening at the White Hart pub (7.30pm) and officers and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service presentation at Whitchurch Primary School.

In Odiham, officers and RAF fire section at Mayhill School.

Thursday, October 16 Joint operations with Hampshire County Council's Trading Standards team across Basingstoke rural areas.

Litter picking in Whitchurch with PCSO Helen Rutherford and street-cleaning team, from recreation ground at 5pm.

Bike marking at Odiham police station (2.30pm-3.30pm), and open evening (5pm-7pm).

Friday, October 17 Mobile police offices in Tadley (9am-12pm), and Pamber Heath (2pm-4pm).

High visibility evening patrols in Tadley.

School assembly visits to Testbourne Community School and The Clere School and Technology College.

Saturday, October 18 High visibility patrols all evening in Tadley, Whitchurch and Overton and Hart rural areas.

Hampshire Constabulary's roads policing unit will be operating speed checks at different times of day and evening.

The campaign's aim is to help communities get to know and work with the people working in their neighbourhoods.
