HAIRDRESSERS at a Basingstoke salon discovered a magic formula for raising money.

The stylists at Marco Polo Hair in Queen’s Road, Brookvale, donated all the proceeds from cuts and colours carried out on one particular day to Cancer Research UK.

And magician Alex Lodge and live band Bambu entertained the clients as their locks were dyed and trimmed.

The day’s activities, which included a raffle that raised nearly £400, generated £1,800 for the charity.

Salon owner Karen Olliver said: “It was a great day with a really good atmosphere.

“The clients loved it and were tapping their feet. People were everywhere – it was absolutely packed.”
