SHOPPERS at Sainsbury’s stores in Basingstoke will have to ask if they require a single-use plastic bag to carry their shopping.

Customers at the stores in Station Mall, Basingstoke town centre, and in Wallop Drive, Hatch Warren, now have to ask a cashier if they require a bag, as the single-use bags will be kept under the till.

People reusing old bags will be rewarded with extra Sainsbury’s Nectar reward points.

There are other supermarkets, and as there's a cash crisis at the moment maybe it's a good excuse to check out the cheaper alternatives.

I've moved to ASDA for instance. I have several other choices too.

Loyalty is an old idea, go for better service and prices!
