Patrols stepped up after crime spate

POLICE have stepped up patrols in a Basingstoke suburb after eight cars had their tyres slashed.

Officers are stopping any suspicious individuals seen in Brighton Hill after the vehicles were damaged in a spate of incidents in the last few days.

Most cars were parked on the road but some were parked in people's driveways.

The incidents took place in Quilter Road, Copland Close, Chopin Road, Sullivan Road, Britten Road and Ravel Close.

PCSO Karla Hammond said: "We are conducting extra patrols, particularly during the evening and anyone seen acting suspiciously or loitering will be stopped and spoken to.

"We'd also like to remind vehicle owners to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us."

Anyone with information should contact the Brighton Hill safer neighbourhoods team, at Basingstoke police station, on 0845 045 4545.
