Couple snog the limelight

10:55am Wednesday 2nd July 2008

AN ECSTATIC couple won a £23,000 wedding after kissing for three hours.

Amy Gordon and Colin Holloway are the finalists who walked away with the prize of a Kestrel FM-run competition - a £23,000 dream wedding at Oakley Hall, near Oakley, including a £3,000 wedding dress.

The couple, who live in Penrith Road, Basingstoke, were one of five finalist couples voted for by listeners.

In this lip-smacking competition, couples had to kiss for the longest time, with an eliminator question every 45 minutes.

Miss Gordon, 23, said: "We are over the moon. I think we're still in shock."

The pair, who have been together for over five years and engaged for 18 months, were whisked away in a helicopter straight after getting the final question right, and then driven back again from Thruxton in a Bentley, sipping Champagne.

The bride-to-be, who works for a local bank, said: "I think the kissing was the easiest part - it was the questions that were tough.

"We developed tactics. Colin took his shoes off and I wore my highest heels - which made us more the same height and we just tried to keep our eyes on the prize.

"We had a look around Oakley Hall - and it's beautiful. We are so grateful to them and Kestrel."

Miss Gordon added that she and 28-year-old Colin, who is a postman, took out a mortgage last year and, consequently, did not have much money to pay for a wedding, but now they plan to get married in January.

Speaking about the £3,000 wedding dress, Amy said: "I can't believe it. It's going to be the most expensive thing I own."

Kestrel FM's Mark Watson, who ran the competition for two weeks on his breakfast show, said: "We had a huge response during the campaign and the final went smoothly, but it got quite tense. It was like an episode of X-Factor, with the couples looking down and biting their knuckles."
