A WOMAN has been banned from driving for a year after a collision on the Black Dam Roundabout last year in which another driver was injured.
Tracey Jane Pothecary, 46, of Cumberland Avenue, Brighton Hill was found guilty of careless driving by magistrates at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on September 3.
The court heard how Pothecary was the driver of a Volkswagen Golf which failed to stop at a red light at the Black Dam Roundabout on September 23, 2017.
Pothecary had driven from Ringway South approaching the roundabout in the wrong lane to turn left on to A339, proceeding to go through a red light. She carried on directly into the path of a black BMW, causing a head-on collision.
Both vehicles were written off, with the driver of the BMW suffering bruised ribs, swollen fingers and minor burns to the neck from a deployed air bag.
When stopped, officers also found that Pothecary’s driving licence had expired.
The 46-year-old failed to appear before magistrates, so a verdict was passed in her absence.
She was fined £880 and disqualified from driving for one year. She was also ordered to pay £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
