AN Old Basing care home recently gave its residents another taste of summer as they set sail on a ‘cruise’ this coming week.
Residents at Basingfield Court Residential Care Home, in Huish Lane, will embark on a week-long voyage starting on Monday, 20 August, all without leaving the home.
Different areas of the home are being transformed into holiday destinations, including France and Hawaii.
The home will be starting its holiday themed week on Saturday, 25 August, when they will be having a Luau-themed summer fete from 2-4pm.
There will also be stalls, games, a live dance performance by Bus Pass to Broadway and cocktails and mocktails from the home’s ‘bar.’
Joy Loosley, a 91-year-old resident, said: “It has been great fun making the beautiful garlands. At the beginning I didn’t think we could possibly make as many as we have. All we need now is the sun to shine and it will be like we are really in Hawaii.”
