AFTER celebrating her last day of school with the glitz and glamour of her prom ,Tegan Mullings (Stapleton) wanted to continue the celebrations.

But the teenager has had life changed by the events of what followed.

However she and her family are determined to keep fighting and thank those who helped Tegan.

The 16-year-old former Everest Community Academy student travelled to Bournemouth on July 7, the day after her prom.

After a day at the beach and having a couple of drinks with her friend Sara, the fun soon stopped as Tegan fell on the railway line at Bournemouth station as the pair were preparing to head home to Basingstoke.

The teenager struck the live rail, going into cardiac arrest and suffering extensive electrical third degree burns and nerve damage to her right arm.

A bystander bravely jumped into action, pulling Tegan from the track and giving her CPR, which saved her life.

Following the incident, Sara had to phone Tegan’s mum and tell her what happened as the teenager was airlifted to Swansea for treatment before being diverted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

Now, Tegan’s aunt Porsche Hutton-Silver, with the support of her family, has set up a GoFundMe page to give back to everyone who has helped Tegan.

Porsche said: “At the moment she is doing well, but she has bad days and good days.

“She has just had some skin grafts and has started to regain the use of her legs but she still hasn’t got any movement in her arms and hands.

“It is a miracle that she is still here with us.”

When she regained conciousness, Tegan said she could not remember anything of what happened or any of her prom.

Despite the life-changing injuries, Porsche said Tegan has maintained her cheeky personality and has kept upbeat. But there are days where the 16-year-old just watches films and does not say a word.

However, Tegan, with the help of her family, now wants to raise £5,000.

Explaining where the money would go, Porsche added: “She wants to raise £1,000 to give back to the St John’s Ambulance team, another £1,000 for the intensive care unit and £1,000 for the burns unit.

“She also wants to give £1,000 to the people who helped her at the train station.”

The last £1,000 will go to general support for Tegan, who was working two jobs as soon as she left school before the incident.

In a bid to reach the £5,000 target, Porsche is set to take part in a sponsored skydive, and the family will host a charity cake sale and raffle, which will be sponsored by Porsche’s employer Hays Travel.
