A NEW retail park is beginning to take shape in Brighton Hill.

Drone footage has been taken to show the progress being made at the emerging St Michael’s Retail Park, on the site of the former Smiths Industries Aerospace site, in Winchester Road.

Work began in November after the proposal was given planning consent in July last year.

The units are due to be handed over to the retailers in September.

The developers have already signed up the likes of Aldi, Nandos, Costa Coffee, Oak Furniture Land and Furniture Village to some of the units at the site, sandwiched between the Brighton Hill Retail Park and Basingstoke Business Centre.

According to the park’s website, Natuzzi, a furniture brand, has a bid under offer to have one of the remaining six units.

It is believed that the site will generate more than 300 new jobs for the area.

The video below, shot by Apex Drone Photography on July 26, shows the park taking shape.

Tesco has previously had planning permission refused to build a 63,000 sq ft store on the site and announced in 2015 it had shelved plans and was set to sell the site.
