DESPITE the temperature still soaring in the high 30s, fundraisers are being asked to put on their winter coats and raise money for charity.

Runners are being encouraged to sign up to the returning Festive Fun Run organised by the Pelican Cancer Foundation.

Men, women and children, from the age of six upwards, are invited to get involved on Sunday, 16 December, with a 5km and a 2.5km course around the town’s War Memorial Park to raise vital funds for the charity.

All runners will receive a fabulous fun Santa suit to wear around the course and a medal for taking part.

Sarah Crane, chief executive at Pelican Cancer Foundation said: “This is Pelican’s second Festive Fun Run and promises to be really exciting.

“There will be plenty of Christmas cheer and music from The Breeze to keep our sprinting Santas on track around the course.

“Pelican is proud to bring the festive fun run to the local community, so please sign up now – either individually, with family and friends, or in a team. You will be supporting our charity while earning those extra mince pies this Christmas.”
