PUPILS staged a play with a difference at the end of term.

North Waltham Primary School pupils performed Emil and the Detectives as part of the Let’s Play programme.

The pupils were involved in every aspect of planning and creating the production.

Let’s Play is a new programme from the National Theatre that offers primary schools new plays.

The programme provides everything that teachers need to make a piece of theatre including a specialist theatre making course, teacher toolkit and video guides.

Jeff Maidment, headteacher, said: “We are delighted to have worked with the National Theatre in performing this play and I know the audience were very impressed with the standard of the performance.”

Alice King-Farlow, director of learning at the National Theatre, said: “We believe that all young people should have the chance to see, make and explore theatre as part of their education and through Let’s Play, we aim to provide everything that a school might need to produce an outstanding school play.”
