BUSINESS in Schools Award, sponsored by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council

A TEACHER who is striving to set pupils up with the skills they need to succeed in life after their school days has landed the Business in Schools Award.

Klara Reddy, associate assistant headteacher at Aldworth School, has been working to build partnerships with businesses to bring a wide variety of benefits to the school.

This ranges from sessions on interviews and CVs, through to initiatives to get volunteers from businesses to brighten up the school garden and bringing the world of high tech science to assemblies.

Klara said: “I’m really honoured to be recognised. I didn’t start teaching to win awards but it feels really lovely to feel valued for the work you have done.

“It has been such a good night to get together with other teachers as that is the best way to improve, to learn from each other. Basingstoke needs that teaching community together.”

Her nomination read: “Klara’s role is related to student enrichment. She has secured a partnership with Sainsbury’s which has been beneficial to our students.

“She also works with businesses to invite in guest speakers and secures a large number of businesses in our world of work day interviews: providing interview experience for students from business professionals.

“She has a commitment to providing opportunities for students that will serve them beyond their school days.”
