MUSIC in the sunshine was the highlight of an event which ‘seems to get bigger and bigger’.

Sherfest returned to Sherfield Park Community Centre for the sixth year on Saturday with an array of entertainment on offer to keep the estimated 1,000 guests happy in the summer sunshine.

Alongside five bands performing live on stage, local clubs and groups showed off what they had to offer including dance groups and an over 55s group.

Elsewhere, there was plenty of stalls to keep guests entertained alongside a tombola, games, a bouncy castle, cooking demonstrations, drumming lessons and more.

Meanwhile visitors were kept fed and watered with a barbecue, fish and chips on sale and local real ales and ciders.

Carl Lesh, a trustee of Sherfield Park Community Association which organised Sherfest, said: “It seems to get bigger and bigger and bigger every year. It was the biggest one yet that I have been aware of.

“It was absolutely brilliant.

“We are trying to do an event every month throughout the year now at the community centre. So we are looking at pub quiz nights, a gin festival, that sort of thing. We just need to figure out what to do next July now to top Sherfest this year!”
