Innovation Award, sponsored by Radiquip media services

A LIBRARIAN has been hailed for her innovative ideas to diversify a school library.

Helen Ward, librarian at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College (CBEC), has been praised for her work since joining the school.

Helen said: “I’m shocked and surprised, but very grateful for the award.

“There are so many people who work very hard for the benefit of the students and school, and there are lots of other people who could have been given the award who would have been equally as deserving.”

In her nomination, Helen was praised for making the library a place for all the students to feel welcome and relaxed. In addition to that, she was noted for her fundraising and her enthusiasm for getting children to read.

Part of the nomination read: “Mrs Ward is an inspirational librarian who has made such an impact since she joined the school. [She has] innovative ideas and engaging activities for students and staff alike.

“The library has turned into a welcoming space for that encourages students to read for pleasure and learn how to self manage and independently study.

“Mrs Ward really is an innovator at heart from re-designing the system in the library to providing support for vulnerable students.”
