A SPORTS club has celebrated a first-of-a-kind event for the club.

Down Grange Football Club had a dual event of a fun day and celebration event, presenting prizes and holding activities for all ages on July 7.

More than 100 children are in the various football teams that the club has and each of them held their award ceremony.

Around 200 people attended the event at Basingstoke Rugby Club, which had an array of other attractions including a bungee run, human table football, a tug of war and many other activities.

One of the organisers and club treasurer Keith Hubbard said: “It’s the first time that we ran an event like this. We aimed to bring the club together as we usually have a split with so many teams, but this was the first time that we brought the teams together like this.

“While it was very hot, we had a great time, and the players’ family and friends came along to the event and a good time was had by all.”

The group are still looking for more players in the under sevens, eights and tens for boys, under 18s for girls and women's U7s, teams.
