TEACHING Assistant/ Support Staff award, sponsored by the Apollo Hotel

"THE school is my home”

Those were the words of Sandra Paddon, who has served St John’s CE School for 25 years in roles ranging from dinner lady and cleaner, to governor and teaching assistant.

As well as her formal positions, Sandra also runs the after school club and the school council.

She said: “It is just an amazing feeling to know that people have said such lovely thing about what you do. We put the news on Facebook already and there has been lots of lovely comments on it.

“The school is so close to my heart. It is my home and it will always be my home.”

Sandra’s certificate for winning the award is set to go on display in the school trophy cabinet.

Her nomination read: “She really has dedicated so much of her life to the school, and all the Christmas cards and end of term cards and gifts she receives all comment on what a fabulous and hardworking member of the school she is and the teachers she support all say they couldn’t do it without her.

“She’s such a selfless person who will do anything for anyone, but she never puts herself first so to be honoured with this award really would make her year and would be the best way to recognise all her hard work and dedication to the school.”
