A BASINGSTOKE takeaway is looking to get new premises after being unable to agree an extension of its current lease.

Anu’s Kitchen, currently situated in Queen’s Parade has applied for planning permission from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to move its premises.

The eatery is looking to move to a vacant retail to in the shopping parade in Kings Furlong, in the Kings Furlong Centre.

The premises were previously used by The FirePlace company as a showroom. However, the owners have chosen to consolidate the business at the main showroom in Thatcham, leaving the premises vacant since January.

A planning statement submitted to the borough council read: “Anu Kitchen has grown from a modest home-based catering company to a successful business with a great reputation in the local community for wholesome and authentic Indian cuisine.

“The business currently supports the two owners and employs two chefs with two serving/front of house staff.”

In the application, it is outlined that the owners seek to install a new extractor and exhaust system, which are required to allow the applicant to install a commercial kitchen and meet environmental health regulations.

If planning permission is granted the business will be operational from 9am to 11pm daily, with public access only available at the site between 5pm and 11pm.

It is believed that the application would have no impact on the current waste system of the shopping parade and the opening hours would be consistent with other takeaways in the area.

A decision will be made by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on the application by Thursday, 16 August.
