A TEENAGER battling cancer and bullying was treated to a surprise pamper day to boost her spirits.

Kelly Blundy thought she was just going into town with her mum and sisters before a Lamborghini arrived on her driveway and whisked her off VIP-style.

The 15-year-old was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in September last year and after shaving her head while undergoing chemotherapy, began to receive “nasty comments” about her looks.

That’s when family friend Wayne McGregor decided to make a few calls and put on a special day.

Mum Diane said: “Kelly had been so positive to then hitting rock bottom. She’s just an amazing girl. She has taken everything that has been thrown at her and she just deals with it.

“When she saw Lamborghini parked on the drive, Kelly said ‘what does that man think he’s doing parking on our driveway?’

“She was just gobsmacked, absolutely stunned that someone would go through this trouble to do something for her.

“She loved it, it boosted her confidence and the amount of people that told her on the day she looks beautiful and short hair really suits her.”

On the day Kelly was taken in the flashy red sportscar, donated via Dean and Jady Morledge of Andover Car Valeting and car owner Paul McLean, to get her nails and make up done at Xanadu Beauty, in Ludgershall, before having a professional photoshoot with Lisie Lai at the Best Western Hotel.

The Seville Crescent family have had hard times with the illness, as father Chris had been battling throat cancer and Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Grandmother Maureen died just three weeks ago from leukaemia.

Wayne said: “Kelly is an inspiration. For a young girl like that to go through all that and still come out smiling, she’s a legend. She deserved that day and I’m glad I organised it.”

Diane also wanted to thank all the people involved who have supported the family, including Vigo School for helping her two youngest daughters.

The family is now setting up a youth club for children with cancer in Andover, and is looking for donations of Xboxes and activities the children could use. For more join the Facebook group, Kick it with Kelly, Children with Cancer support group.
