DANCING delights appeared in the blink of an eye on Saturday morning.

Festival Place was the location for an impromptu flashmob with dance students and members of the public coming together for a performance.

At the stroke of 11am, Queen Mary's College students alongside counterparts from the JLD School of Dance, Dance To The Beat, and Lynden School of Dance, along with members of the public, emerged from the shoppers at the centre to join together and show off their skills.

After the performance, as quickly as they appeared, the dancers disappeared back into the crowds.

The flashmob was part of the ongoing Basingstoke Festival which has a theme of Art in Unusual Places.

The festival, which features over 100 performances across Basingstoke, runs until Sunday, 8 July.

Other events this week included the All In The Mind Festival, see pages 26 and 27, the Chilli and Cheese Festival, see pages 6 and 7, the launch of the Musication Station in Festival Place - which continues for more two further weekends - and an open day at Market Chambers, see page 58.
