THE Great Overton Bake Off, classic cars, zorbing and an abundance of fun was held at Overton School Association (OSA) Fete on Saturday.

More than 1,000 people joined the family day out and more than 150 people volunteered for the fundraiser in aid of Overton CoE Primary School.

The fete kicked off with the Vintage Tea Rooms announcing the winners of The Great Overton Bake Off, which Eve Hart took top spot for her mermaid tail cupcakes.

Revellers were also met by the Royal British Legion Corps of Drums, the Laverstoke Park Farm tractor and trailer and a barbecue lunch stocked with burgers and sausages sourced from Turners Butchers on Overton High Street.

Sports clubs including Overton Taekwondo, Marina School of Dance and USKO Karate also showed off their skills with activities, displays and competitions.

OSA member Miriam Targett said: “The fete was a classic summer time affair, just like we remember from our own school days. Blue skies, green grass and the sound of a brass band playing in the distance.

“Funds raised by Overton School Association are spent by the school on experiences, resources and equipment that make a difference to every child in the school.

“The association has recently pledged to contribute a large percentage of the cost of ViewSonic HD touch panels for every classroom in the school.”

The day raised more than £6,000 to go towards the screens.

Independent stalls from 1st Overton Brownies and Overton Rocks! also donated their proceeds to Lordsfield Swimming Club.

The next OSA fundraiser will be a fireworks display in November.
