AN ALL-dancing, all-singing and all-acting group is gearing up to perform at a prestigious London venue this Saturday.

Students from Theatretrain in Basingstoke will be performing at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in the West End.

There, they will be performing with seven other Theatretrain schools from across the country.

The students will be performing a Theatretrain-original show, called Special Measures, about a school that gets a new headmaster, Mr Ridgeway, who takes away the arts provision of the school.

The rest of the show is about how the students react and how they need the arts.

All 62 students from the Basingstoke school of dancing, singing and acting will be performing.

The final rehearsal took place the other weekend and the students are excited to get going for their performance.

For the first time ever, there will be three of the Basingstoke class who will be performing solos at the show.

Basingstoke Theatretrain centre director and acting coach Pip Evans said: “It is the first time that Special Measures has been performed and we I’m really excited to see them on stage. It is really like a little family and I can’t wait to see them on stage.

“They really are a wonderful and talented group of children and they work so well together, from the youngest at six-years-old to the older ones at 18. Some of the older ones are now at a point where they are seriously considering auditioning for acting colleges and universities.”

Previously, the Basingstoke Theatretrain students have performed in the Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena, as well as putting on performances in the Haymarket.

Pip added: “It is a great experience for them, and we are really committed to giving them amazing opportunities to perform.

“It’s really important to me that they get high class training, and that they are doing it because they enjoy it. I can’t wait to see them onstage.”
