A CARE dealer raced in to help out a charity.

Inchcape UK’s Toyota retail centre in Basingstoke has donated £1,550 to SeeAbility’s Heather House as part of its ongoing support for the Tadley-based residential home which provides specialist nursing services for people with rare and life-limiting conditions.

The automotive retailer, based on Houndmills Industrial Estate in Basingstoke, has provided a £1,550 grant to help the residential home to refurbish its gym and buy new equipment to support its physiotherapy programme.

The gym refurbishment project will benefit 26 young people at the residential home, many of whom live with Juvenile Batten Disease, a rare, life-limiting disease that will ultimately cause them to be totally dependent on families and carers for all of their needs.

The equipment will be used for physiotherapy which helps the young people to retain their independence for as long as possible by maintaining strength, stamina and mobility.

The team at Inchcape Toyota Basingstoke has chosen to apply for the grants on behalf of SeeAbility’s Heather House for the past two years.

Andy Hollis, general manager at Inchcape Toyota Basingstoke, said: “Myself and several of my colleagues have visited Heather House to spend time with the patients and staff. We all found it a very moving experience and we’re delighted to be able to help them buy the equipment they need to continue providing the best quality care for young people with complex needs and life-limiting conditions.”
