WHEN two highly unqualified men are thrown together as live-in guardians of a 200-year-old house, who knows what is going to happen.

This is the plot of the film Guardians which will be shown as part of this year’s Basingstoke Festival which officially got underway this week (see page 69).

What seems like an easy job for the film’s two protagonist turns out to be anything but as the house comes under attack from unseen forces.

Guardians is being shown at the Vue cinema in Festival Place on Saturday and is being presented by the Exit 6 Film Festival as part of the Discover Art in Unusual places theme of this year’s Basingstoke Festival.

As well as the screening of the film, there will be a question and answer session with the film’s director Mark A.C. Brown as part of the event.

Mr Brown is no stranger to the Exit 6 Festival, which aims to promote independent film in Basingstoke and Deane, as he wrote the short film Stained which was part of the inaugural Exit 6 Festival programme in 2016.

At the screening event, Mr Brown will be joined by a panel made up of stars of the film Matt Prendergast and Mike Shephard plus producer Frederic Fournier for the question and answer session.

Mr Brown said: “We are thrilled to be returning to Exit 6 with Guardians.

“Being part of the inaugural festival with our short Stained was one of our favourite festival experiences and we hope to replicate that with Guardians.”

The screening of Guardians is part of this year’s Basingstoke Festival which is full of surprises for everyone to discover, whether it is simply enjoying a walk through the town centre or as a visitor to our many cultural venues.

There will also be performances from internationally acclaimed act Stopgap Dance Company, the visually spectacular, award-winning Ockham’s Razor, the Ballet Cymru presentation of Cinderella, through to a celebration of dance throughout the ages with the Ragroof Players.

The Exit 6 Film Festival was founded by a collective of film-makers and film-lovers who have attended many festivals and decided that it was high time that there was a similar being staged in north Hampshire.

During the festival, each filmmaker gets the opportunity to take part in a questions and answer session after the screening of their film.

This year the film festival will take place on September 28.
