SIX people have been arrested as part of a drug raid carried out in Basingstoke.

Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team seized suspected Class A drugs and money during an operation which was carried out yesterday morning (Thursday, 21 June).

Warrants were carried out at two flats in Park Prewett Road, Rooksdown.

In one flat, officers found a quantity of suspected Class A drugs, an axe, a lock knife and cash.

During the incident police arrested a 25-year-old man from London, a 34-year-old man from Basingstoke, a 21-year-old man from London, a 17-year-old girl from Basingstoke, a 40-year-old woman from Basingstoke and a 48-year-old man from Southampton, who were all arrested on suspicion of permitting premises for supplying a Class A drug.

The operation was carried out under Fortress, Hampshire Constabulary’s campaign to reduce the harm of drug-related violence.

All six people have been released from custody but remain under investigation.

Sergeant Ian Davies from Hampshire Constabulary said: “We’re committed to identifying and disrupting those who are concerned in the supply of illegal drugs.

“Operations like the one yesterday can only come about thanks to information from the public.

“If you have concerns about drug-related activity where you live, don’t assume that someone else will report it. Even the smallest bit of information can help us build a clearer intelligence picture.”
